Student stories

Ellen Minkin, UvA Master Medical Informatics

“I set out to gain real-world experience, developing a new AI-powered care planning tool for the cardiology clinic. Using ELLLA’s mobile UX lab, collaborating with both a company and a hospital on a new tool that will be put into real-world use let me test my skills and gain a preview of what my career could look like.”

Susan Oudbier, PhD candidate, Evidence-based UX for Healthcare

“With ELLLA you get hands on research tools that you can use straight away. Using the tools from this UX course, I found usability issues with the electronic health record for patients and health care professionals, that could be addressed and improved.”

Wail, Master Medicine, non-clinical internship

“I chose to do one of my elective modules (keuzeonderwijs) with ELLLA because I wanted to understand more about how I might use AI in clinical practice in future. My research on AI tools for clinical decision support in dermatology was immediately valuable to share with my colleagues.”

PhD researcher Susan Oudbier explains why the Evidence-Based UX for healthcare course was valuable for her research.
