Who we are
We are a regional partnership between the Smarthouse Amsterdam, Smart Health and Vitality Lab Amsterdam and the eHealth Living & Learning Lab Amsterdam. Together we form a learning and research environment
What we do
We combine the knowledge and expertise of the three labs to train healthcare professionals of the future for the shift from hospital care to home care, where healthcare technology and AI are used in a human-centred and user-friendly way.
For whom?
for students, teachers, healthcare professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, patients and informal carers
Why is this important?
More and more care is being provided at home, but education is not yet sufficiently aligned with this trend. Tomorrow’s healthcare professionals will need different skills, such as:
- Working with medical technology for home use
- Instructing patients and informal carers
- Handling data and AI securely
- Making independent decisions and collaborating within the healthcare chain
By actively involving students and lecturers from various study programmes, they can collaborate on current social issues, familiarise themselves with the various labs and learn from each other’s perspectives. HealthTech @Home bridges the gap with practice-oriented innovation in education and training, which will soon be reflected in the Smart Hospital @Home, located in the former Slotervaart hospital.
By conducting research and training together within the healthcare chain, the accessibility of healthcare in Amsterdam will be improved, the quality of life for care recipients will be enhanced, and the pressure on healthcare professionals will be reduced. In this way, healthcare technology will become an essential part of the repertoire of healthcare professionals of the future.
